Gayà starts as captain for first time

The defender took on the captain's armband against CD Leganés

José Luis Gayà started a game as Valencia CF captain for the first time in the game against CD Leganés, as regular skipper Dani Parejo was rested for a LaLiga contest for the first time since March 6th, 2016.

The full back, who had scored in the first fixture between the two teams this season at Mestalla, was active during the contest at Butarque and hit the crossbar with a shot early on. He would be replaced after 75 minutes having received a knock to his nose, meaning Facundo Rongalia took on left back duties for the final quarter-hour.

Gaya has featured in 22 LaLiga games this term, starting on every occasion.
